The United States carried out strikes on Iran for a seventh consecutive night on Friday, according to Euronews. US Central Command said its forces hit surveillance sites, military logistics infrastructure, underground weapons storage, and maritime capabilities, while continuing to enforce a naval blockade of Iranian ports.
Iran responded in kind. Iran’s army said its drones targeted a US ammunition depot at Al-Adairi camp in Kuwait, along with command buildings and ammunition storage facilities, according to Iran International. Kuwait’s General Staff of the Army said its air defenses intercepted the drones. A separate Iranian strike the previous day hit a Kuwaiti power and desalination plant, sparking a fire and knocking out several generation units, per Gulf News.
Tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has fallen sharply, with crossings dropping to 14 vessels on Sunday from 37 the previous week, according to Kpler data cited by CNBC. No casualties from Friday’s exchange had been confirmed as of publication.
That marks a lighter toll than Thursday night’s strikes, which expanded the campaign inland. The US hit the Kahurestan and Giriyeh bridges on the Bandar Abbas–Lar highway, the main road link between Iran’s largest port and Shiraz, along with a railway junction and a maritime control tower at Chabahar, according to the Washington Times. Iran’s Hormozgan Governor’s Office said the bridge strikes killed seven and wounded nine, though the Fars news agency put the toll at two killed and four wounded, with the Bandar Abbas–Khamir–Lar road closed entirely, per Ynet. Retaliatory strikes also widened that night, with Qatar intercepting a missile attack and Kuwait activating air defenses, while Iran’s Revolutionary Guard claimed a strike on a US command center at al-Tanf in Syria that Reuters said it could not verify, according to Iran International.
