The warning followed a Wall Street Journal report, cited by the Times of Israel, that Israel had shared intelligence with Washington on an alleged new Iranian plan to kill Trump. Iran has not publicly responded to that specific allegation.
It lands amid a rapid unraveling of the Islamabad Memorandum, the June 17 deal that lifted the US naval blockade and waived Iranian oil sanctions in exchange for a 60-day toll-free reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, backed by a pledged $300 billion Iran reconstruction fund. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi accused Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent of violating Paragraph 9 of the memorandum through fresh sanctions, calling it one of several US “violations and missteps,” according to CNN. Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Iran was ready for “all-out defense” if Washington breaches the accord, adding the war “will never end with Iran’s surrender,” according to Iran International.
Trump said Friday the ceasefire was “over,” but that talks would continue. Whether that holds may depend on Araghchi’s planned Saturday meeting with Omani officials about reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
