The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claims to have carried out 22 attacks across Balochistan between August 9 and 18, targeting police, military convoys and infrastructure and killing 26 Pakistani security personnel, according to a tally based on BLA statements compiled by The Balochistan Post and cited by ANI News. The claims are drawn entirely from BLA’s own statements and have not been independently confirmed by Pakistani authorities, who have not issued a comprehensive public response. The reported incidents span western districts such as Kharan and Chagai, central areas including Kalat, and southern border regions including Kech and Panjgur.
Among the claimed incidents, BLA said it destroyed police posts in Zomi, Kharan district, and Chehtar, Chagai district, with explosives after detaining and disarming personnel, and struck a military convoy with an IED near Rodenjo in Kalat district. The group also claimed a grenade attack wounding a police officer in Panjgur’s Chitkan area and the detention of police from Quetta’s Eagle Squad, whose weapons were seized before the officers were released.
The campaign coincides with a period of heavy demand on Pakistan’s security and diplomatic apparatus: Islamabad has spent months mediating between Washington and Tehran during the US-Iran war. Available reporting does not establish a direct link between that role and the security response in Balochistan, but the claimed campaign adds pressure to a security establishment already managing multiple fronts.
The reported surge follows a pattern from earlier in 2026, when coordinated BLA attacks in January and July killed dozens of security personnel and prompted counter-insurgency operations that authorities said killed hundreds of militants. BLA frequently targets lightly defended police posts rather than fortified installations, generating propaganda value while limiting exposure to larger responses – part of an effort to portray itself as a province-wide insurgent network rather than a movement confined to traditional strongholds.
